Electrical testing services across 167 FirstGroup bus stations and depots

Issue

First Group is a leading transport group, operating in the UK, North America and other international locations. The company has 100,000 employees across the Group with around two billion passengers a year. They operate, manage or maintain combined fleets of 50,000 vehicles.

Running an organisation of this size requires robust facilities and working environments. Employers have a legal responsibility to ensure that all electrical systems are tested on a regular basis so that they remain in a safe condition and comply with current regulations.

Solution

Back in late 2015 Quicklight won a national contract to provide electrical testing services across 167 FirstGroup bus stations and depots. The contract, which started in September, saw us carry out electrical installation condition reports (EICR) utilising thermal imaging cameras and any remedial work required as a result of the tests.

As Richard McCabe, Managing Director at Quicklight, said at the time “Compliance testing can be a huge undertaking for organisations of FirstGroup’s size. Our experience in planning and implementing company-wide programmes of electrical testing takes the hassle away from them.”

Result

Since the contract was won Quicklight has gone through all the remittal work, made sure everything meets standards and regulations, delivered all supporting certificates and documentation on-time and discovered and addressed the testing requirements you’d expect for such a large organisation.

David Seaton, FirstGroup’s Property Projects Manager was thrilled with the work undertaken, stating; “Given the scale of our operations, finding a supplier that was able to strategically work through the work required with the right expertise and the first-class capabilities was vital. I am thrilled to say that Quicklight has well and truly delivered in this area. The communication and working relationship between the two companies has been fantastic and made what could have been a monumental challenge smooth and efficient. Our overall strategy is to leverage the scale and breadth of our global expertise for the benefit of local markets. Being able to let Quicklight handle our facilities has meant we are able to concentrate on this, the area of the business we are most passionate about.”
